Established by Ernest Daltroff in 1904, Parfums Caron was originally located on Rue de la Paix in Paris. Daltroff purchased the perfumery from Anne-Marie Caron and kept the original name. At the same time, he met Félicie Wanpouille, who became his partner and an important contributor to the rise of the house. While Daltroff created fragrances, Wanpouille designed bottles and served as an artistic director.

Caron is the second-oldest Parisian perfume house still active today, and one of the last great houses devoted entirely to fragrances. Caron’s fragrances respond to, and capture the spirit of their times—from WWI to modern women, their scents reflect both personal emotions and historical moments. The company has been able to adapt to changes in society while staying true to its own tradition. Even Caron’s modern perfumes continue to be both unique and timeless.

From the beginning, Parfums Caron was the house dedicated solely to fragrance, unlike houses like Chanel or Christian Dior that were first and foremost fashion houses. While the perfume houses produced more fragrances than fashion houses, by the 1920s women started to look at perfume the same way they regarded new fashion styles. However, as the couture fragrances became more and more popular, they provided a stable point in the ever changing world fashion, therefore the pace of perfume production began to decline. Subsequently, however, Caron has burst back into the front runners of a very elite and niche market perfume business. Bois de Jasmin.

The scent was launched in 1912 and the fragrance was created by perfumer Ernest Daltroff. The original Infini is a velvety aldehydic floral with the rich iris, lilac and tuberose heart wrapped in tonka bean and vetiver. The scent is flowery-spicy. Caron Infini parfum is one of the greats in this genre, with a superb floral heart and a lingering base that includes the sort of fine sandalwood that seems past recapturing.

Top notes are Aldehydes, Jasmine, Narcissus, and Lily of the Valley
Heart notes are Iris, Tuberose, Lilac, and Rose
Base notes are Vetiver, Tonka Bean, Amber, and Sandalwood

"The carnation bursts forth and takes center stage. At this point it is very Sous Le Vent (Guerlain). None of the top notes are recognizable, but the rose and jasmine combo soon come forward and are deeply supported by the warm orris. The ylang enters and adds a buttery roundness to the composition. This is rather luscious. Just imagine: carnation, rose, ylang, jasmine and a strong orris support. As the dry down continues, the carnation subsides but still gives one that spicy background, to allow the luscious base notes to come forward. How Caron can make sandalwood, vetiver, musk, amber and civet to meld into a “subtle” and unobtrusive base is a miracle, but it does. Offered here is a huge and beautiful flacon of this gorgeous fragrance in the Parfum de Toilette version .. I cannot get enough of it .. it is so rich and exotic on my skin. Wonderful lasting fragrance, the word 'velvety' really works here. Both irresistible and delicious! Never used, inner cap in place. Box is in great condition. Wonderful for a man or woman .. but with a bottle this size, it will really work for a man!!
