The House of Worth was a French house of high fashion that specialized in haute couture. The historic house was founded in 1858 by designer Charles Frederick Worth. It continued to operate under his descendents until 1952 but finally closed in 1956.

In 1924, with the House was operated by grandson Jacques Worth, when he led the house to venture into the perfume market. The company's first fragrance, developed by perfumer Maurice Blanchet, was Dans La Nuit. Glass-maker René Lalique was commissioned to design the bottle. Les Perfumes Worth was established as a separate business and would launch over 20 fragrances between 1924 and 1947.

Worth, under Jean Charles and Maurice Blanchet, released five perfumes in a chronological sequence to tell a passionate story .. Dans la Nuit (1925), Vers le Jour (1925), Sans Adieu (1929), Je Reviens (1932), Vers Toi (1934) .. "In the night ... towards dawn ... without saying goodbye ... I return ... towards you."

In addition to these famous and well known perfumes, Worth also produced some single note floral Eau de Colognes which were presented in the same beautiful round Lalique bottles as the others.

Offered here is an extremely rare Œillet or 'Carnation' Eau de Cologne. There are no notes on the Internet for this rare perfume, but I would deign to say it contains the following .. Citrus, Neroli, Bergamot, Carnation, Cloves, Spice, and Sandalwood

Sadly the label tore when I opened the bottle as it was sent from France. Some of the packing material had laid against the label and it stuck. So sad! Of the original 4 oz. flacon, at least 2.5 to 3 ounces are left. Very rare!
