Lancôme Paris is a French luxury perfumes and cosmetics house that distributes products internationally, and is part of the L'Oreal Luxury Products division, which is its parent company and which offers skin care, fragrances, and makeup at higher-end prices.

Founded in 1935 by Armand Petitjean in France, originally as a fragrance house. The name "Lancôme" was inspired by the ruins of a castle, Le Château de Lancosme, while the roses in the area inspired the company’s symbol of the single golden rose. Lancôme launched its first five fragrances in 1935 at the World's Fair in Brussels: Tendre Nuit, Bocages, Conquete, Kypre and Tropiques.

Trésor is a treasure among the company’s perfume creations .. ‘tresor’ in French means ‘treasure’. It is one of the best-selling and most popular perfumes in the world. This exceptionally warm floral oriental has a very fine and elegant composition made of rose, heliotrope, orris, apricot and iris. It was originally created in 1952, by Armand Petitjean, and then it was recreated in 1990 by Sophia Grojsman with more fruity notes.

Lancôme’s website calls Trésor a floral oriental and lists its top notes as apricot blossom and rose; its heart as lilac, iris, and peach; and its base as amber, sandalwood, musk, and vanilla. Grojsman’s oeuvre is heavy with mouthwatering combinations of flowers and fruit.

Trésor is primarily a rose fragrance. Although it’s a peach-inflected rose, it isn’t the juicy, dizzying rose-peach of Guerlain Nahéma. It’s a drier, old fashioned rose dusted with chalky powder. Trésor's amber and vanilla are subtly reined in. A hint of jasmine, and rooty vetiver give it a modern feel.

Not too modern, though. That’s Trésor’s beauty. Trésor feels familiar and comforting with its pale, fruity rose. Somehow I’d guess both Queen Victoria and Anne Hathaway might wear it happily. Trésor must be a magic ticket for thousands of people as they search for a bottle of perfume appropriate for their grandma, aunt, girlfriend, wife, or mother-in-law. It’s hard to imagine anyone not liking the fragrance .. or, at least it’s hard to imagine anyone actively disliking it. The Baccarat bottle offered here is gorgeous, too.

Trésor Eau de Parfum has moderate sillage and lasts four or five hours on the skin, a dreamy blend of sophisticated, sweet, and strong notes. It is considered one of those gorgeous, classic, everlasting, sophisticated and romantic fragrances, that is elegant, exotic and exciting. Perfume writers call it 'generous, sweet, ladylike, charming, complex, floral, and very very Lancome’.

Offered here is an amazing 15 ml. diamond or crystal shaped bottle, marked by Baccarat and known as the "Jewel". In the drawer of the presentation box is another bottle containing the Trésor parfum extrait, with a lovely little funnel with which to fill the jewel flacon. The whole thing is an amazing little treasure, in its pretty peach coloured box! Highly collectible .. half an ounce of beautiful perfume! Would make a divine gift!
