Lancôme, Paris, is a French cosmetics company launched by Armand Petitjean, a former Coty employee, in 1935. The company's name was inspired by the ruins of a castle, Le Château de Lancosme, and the brand's rose symbol was inspired by the roses that surround it. Lancôme is a French luxury perfumes and cosmetics house that distributes products internationally. Lancôme is now part of the L'Oreal Luxury Products division, which is its parent company and offers skin care, fragrances, and makeup.

When Armand Petitjean founded Lancome in 1935 he was already fifty years old, with several careers, several countries, and several lives behind him. These previous lives were to influence the development of the brand’s identity, and he was never to forget South America, where he had long worked as an importer of manufactured goods from Europe; nor would he forget his successful period with the French Foreign Office. And then there was his collaboration with Francois Coty, for whom he had previously worked, and who had initiated him to the perfumer’s subtle art, and from whom he had just parted, to create his own brand.

Coty was renowned as the father of modern perfumery, and had created rare and exclusive fragrances, but in Petitjean’s eyes he had committed the ultimate crime .. in search of volume, he had gone down-market. Armand Petitjean was going to take up the challenge; his was to be a prestige brand, or nothing.

Flèches D'Or by Lancôme was launched in 1938, and was created by Armand Petitjean. The name means "arrows of gold" or "Golden Arrows" in French and refers to Cupid's arrows of love. Lancôme Flèches D'Or is now very rare and long discontinued and extremely hard to obtain.

Classified as a green floral, this beautiful perfume contains many wonderful notes and tones. Evoking a greenhouse, fresh with secret fragrances, it includes notes of green leaves, mosses, and succulent plants, crossed and dominated by the aromas of rare flowers.

Top notes are Aldehydes, Rose, Lemon Verbena, Violet Leaf, and Citron
Heart notes are Violet, Pink, Lilac, Ylang Ylang, Spices, Anise, and Galbanum
Base notes are Vanilla, Orris, Vetiver, Amber, Oak Moss, and Patchouli

Offered here is Flèches D'Or by Lancôme in a half ounce flacon, it is no longer sealed but smells absolutely pristine. Very hard to find nowadays as these perfumes have become a rarity. Comes with its original presentation box.
