Born in Turin in 1883, Maria Nielli became Nina Ricci upon arrival in Paris when she combined her nickname with her husband’s last name. Her Haute Couture house was founded in 1932, at 20 Rue de Capucines in Paris, complete with the design atelier and salons for fittings. Her technique, cuts, balance and materials conferred striking simplicity on the Nina Ricci woman.

Her son, Robert Ricci, created the Perfume department in 1941. Cœur-Joie appeared in 1946. Its bottle initiated the house’s longstanding collaboration with the crystal maker Lalique, which in 1948 created the celebrated bottle for L’Air du Temps. Crowned with crystal doves, it embodied love and liberty; the fragrance became the iconic perfume of the House.

The House acquired its current address at 39 Avenue Montaigne in 1979. Couture and Perfumes came together under one roof, while the ground floor was dedicated to the brand new Nina Ricci boutique. In 1998, the House became a part of the Barcelona-based, family-owned company PUIG. The longtime distributor of Nina Ricci perfumes in Spain, PUIG wished to perpetuate the house’s heritage.

This bottle, designed by Marc Lalique with whom the Ricci family enjoyed a close relationship since childhood, reprised the romantic theme of two beautiful interlinked flowers. These bottles have become extremely costly due to their rarity nowadays. Created in 1935, the bottle is signed ‘Lalique’.

There is some confusion about the name of this perfume. Some French sellers refer to it as Deux Flowers, or 'Two Flowers', and others name it Fleur de Fleurs, or 'Flower of Flowers', and yet others refer to it as Deux Anemones or 'Two Anemones'. Lalique's 'Two Flowers' perfume bottle is adorned by the Lalique coveted satin finish. Bottle is signed on the base in cursive "Lalique, France". A gorgeous collectible bottle, absolutely pristine with no chips or cracks.

I have filled this beautiful bottle with Nina Ricci's Eau de Fleurs, which is a beautiful fragrance right in line with all her other lovely floral creations.

Created in 1974 by Betty Busse, the fragrance has very subtle citrus and spice notes against a sumptuous background of creamy white and pink florals. It is light and pretty, without being over sweet.

Top notes are Lemon, Aldehydes, Green Notes, and Bergamot
Heart notes are Cyclamen, Lily of the Valley, Rosemary, Magnolia, Iris, Lilac, Jasmine, Hyacinth, and Ylang Ylang
Base note is Sandalwood

"The top notes starts off decidedly green, fresh, herbaceous and citrusy thanks to bergamot, rosemary, basil and lemon peel. The heart notes offers, unsurprisingly, an intense sea of flowers consisting of lily of the valley, narcissus, ylang ylang, iris, violet, lilac, hyacinth, jasmine blossom and magnolia. The base smells quite woody and somewhat balsamic thanks to rosewood and sandalwood." Basenotes review.
