The perfume line of Weil was founded by three brothers who each had energetic and cheerful temperaments and found their inspiration for perfumes in the luxury fur business. Luxurious furs, the Roaring Twenties, high fashion .. all the circumstances drove Weil's creators, Alfred, Jacques and Marcel Weil to present something extraordinary alongside their exquisite furs.

Perfumer Claude Frayesse in cooperation with Marcel Weil made the first perfumes which were presented in stunning Baccarat flacons back in 1927. Their name is associatee with the most expensive furs .. Zibeline, Chinchilla, Royal and Hermine. After Marcel Weil's death in 1933 the company did not stop expanding their fragrance collection and added several other extraordinary perfumes, including Bambou, Cassandra and Noir.

In 1927, Marcel Weil of Les Fourrures Weil created Parfums Weil with their advertisements of “perfumes for furs”. These were based on a direct request from a regular client for a perfume suitable for wearing on furs. These were their first commercial perfumes that were advertised would guarantee not to harm the furs.

Launched in 1935, Cassandra by Weil is a Floral Aldehyde for women.

"The perfume starts out sharp, pungent, chypre, some vibrant bergamot, geranium or lemon blended with aldehydes comes along, then made spicy with herbs layered over lots of oakmoss, galbanum and styrax , then comes some heady and powdery ambergris mixed with sandalwood, myrrh and frankincense, the sweetness of benzoin or vanilla, indolic jasmine, then roses dripping with honey and the animalic civet and musk form a wonderful well rounded base. The smoky dry down is completely intoxicating and made heavy by the unabashed use of the ambergris and woods like patchouli and sandalwood."

"Cassandra’s initial Impression is of a mossy chypre base, over which has been laid bright citrus notes. What comes to mind immediately is the scent of a fur coat that has just come in from the cold and is warming to the heat of a wood stove. As Cassandra warms on the skin the florals (Jasmine, Rose) emerge, enveloped in the bright greenery of Galbanum, like tearing a leaf and inhaling the essence of its juicy center.

"Finally, the deep, dark animalic base notes (Patchouli, Myrrh, Ambergris, Benzoin, Styrax) arrive, but they are sweetened by the addition of Honey and Hazelnut (I have never encountered that note before in perfumery). The use of Sandalwood here softens the sharpness of the Galbanum.

"The basic overall impression is that of a green floral chypre. Givenchy III and Chanel’s 19 come to mind as being in the same category. The difference is in the dry down, which supplies the animalic, smoky, chypre base, that is missing from the typical “green floral.” Cassandra is wonderfully unique in its many evolutions over time. Although long discontinued and impossible to recreate due to its animalic ingredients, it is available on line sometimes. Very worth seeking out." Jack Twist, Basenotes Review

A 1947 ad reads "Cassandra Perfume: A breath of Paris brought to her by the House of Weil presenting an incomparable fragrance she ll never forget."
