A cosmetics and perfumery company was established by Raymond Couin at 19 rue Cambon, Paris in 1900; he later sold out to Houbigant in 1922.

Cheramy Perfumes was established in Paris in 1923. Mr. Cheramy was a great friend of Robert Bienaime, who was the head perfumer for Houbigant in Paris. Later Bienaime tutored Cheramy in the creation of perfumes, and this led to Cheramy creating perfumes for both the French and the American market.

Offrande or 'Offering' was created by Ernest Shiftan in 1925. He was a renowned perfumer of his time. His creations include Offrande by Cheramy in 1925, and Estee Lauder's Youth Dew in 1952. This exquisite bottle is an artwork in itself.

I can find nothing about the perfume notes for Offrande other than it is a soft spicy chypre. If it is true to other Cheramy perfumes and fragrances, then it will be a complex blend of notes. The perfume notes will include soft florals, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, amber, vanilla, precious woods, and mosses.

"This is a remarkable chypre with a hint of spice, deeply floral and creamily animalic. I can detect a trio of rose, jasmine and ylang ylang with tiny dashes of cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom, layered over a base of musk, amber, vanilla, sandalwood and oak moss. It is voluptuous, sensual, warm and overwhelmingly comforting. I am experiencing a “lotion” version, equivalent to our modern eau de parfum, and the amount of natural oil concentration is remarkable. Splashed on in the evening, it is still present in the morning. I can only imagine the intensity of a pure parfum version. This is one to seek out for all chypre lovers. Highly recommended." This 1 oz. bottle of Offrandre is sealed and in its original condition. Extremely rare. Gorgeous etched bottle and bouchon that could well be by Lalique. Label slightly smudged.
