The House of Figène was established by Eugene Miquelis in 1931 in Grasse, France. It operated until 1946, when the war interfered with production.
The name Figène was derived from the names of Eugene's children, Philippe (Fi) and Geneviève (Gene).
There were about 17 or more perfumes in the repetoire, mostly launched in 1931, and housed in lovely flacons with elegant boxes. These included a number of soliflore perfumes such as Carnation, Lavender, Rose, Violet, Mimosa, Lily of the Valley, Lilac, Narcissus, and Jasmin. Several other perfumes were created that were distinctively packaged, such as Aube Nouvelle, Cuir de Russie, and En Septembre. Sadly the war time put tremendous strains on many small perfume houses, and they were unable to survive the economic downturn.
A few collectible Figène pieces have survived and can be found on the market today, some 80 years later.
Offered here is a generous bottle of Figène's Cuir de Russie. Bearing the Russian crest on the label, this bottle has never been opened, and very little evaporation has occurred over the decades. Like so many other perfume houses at the time, Figène's production was disrupted by the war, leading to its eventual closure in 1946. Many of these perfume houses were bombed.
Though there is scant information about this small perfumerie, I think the perfume notes would be something like this ..
Top notes are Orange Blossom, Bergamot, Mandarin, Iris, Jasmine, Rose, and Ylang Ylang
Heart notes are Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Amber, and Galbanum
Base notes are Vetiver, Styrax, Leather, Vanilla, Spice Bush, Incense, and Cade Wood
Offered here is the opportunity to buy a gorgeous bottle of Cuir de Russie. I sell this perfume in samples, so you can certainly try it first. It smells really delicious!! A great Cuir de Russie ..
