Robert d'Avray is a historic French perfume house that emerged in the mid-20th century, based in Versailles, France. The brand is known for its elegant and sophisticated fragrances, often presented in beautifully designed bottles.

There were several notable fragrances that emerged from this perfume house in the mid 1940's, includeing En Rêvant (1948) .. a perfume is characterised by fresh citrus top notes, a heart of rose, jasmine, and violet, and a warm base of musk and vanilla. It evoked a sense of elegance and timeless beauty, making it suitable for romantic occasions. Following this came Ambré, Andantino, Brise Média, Chinois, Chypre, Colonnade, Marjolaine d'Avray, Muguet, and Symphonie Amoureuse. These fragrances were launched around the year 1950 and are noted for their refined compositions.

Fougère and Fleur de Tabac eau de cologne variants were also produced in the 1950's and are occasionally found in vintage perfume auctions. The fragrance of tobacco flowers is often described as a blend of sweet, floral, and warm spice notes, distinct from the smoky scent of burning tobacco leaves. It can also have earthy, green, or even slightly metallic undertones. Some people find it to be a unique, unisex, and even intoxicating scent.

While Robert d'Avray is no longer an active brand, its perfumes are occasionally available through vintage perfume auctions and collectors' markets. The brand's commitment to quality and artistry has left a lasting impression on the world of perfumery. I have been lucky to find a few of these famous bottles in auctions in Paris.

Fleur de Tabac was a popular fragrance in the 1940's and 50's, and of course it represented a time when women started to smoke. Fleurs de Tabac is the result of a beautiful synthesis of notes. Since there is little written or available describing this lovely scent, one must deduce what one can from other Tabac fragrances of the time.

Reminiscent of Caron’s masterful Tabac Blond .. Fleurs de Tabac fragrances began to gain popularity in the late 1920's and became very fashionable thereafter. The scent of tobacco leaves mingle with vetiver, a touch of vanilla and amber and a light jasmine overlay. There is a pronounced tarragon anise note as well. It seems relatively simple, but the overall effect is one of great sophistication and superb blending and balance.

Here's my suggestion on the notes gleaned from various other similar fragrances ..

Top notes are Orange Blossom, Petitgrain, Neroli, Lemon, and Bergamot
Heart notes are Jasmine, Tobacco, Smoke, Birch, Carnation, and Orris
Base notes are Frankincense, Vetiver, Amber, Patchouli, Leather, Vanilla, and Ambergris

Offered here is an opportunity to buy a lovely little bottle of the beautiful parfum extrait. Still sealed and never used. Comes in its original presentation box. Extremely rare and hardly ever found, this is a beautiful fragrance for men or women .. It is so lovely smelling, and long lasting on the skin .. A beautiful find .. This is one of the loveliest tabacco flower perfumes I have had!
