Floris founder Juan Famenias Floris and his wife Elizabeth began selling perfume, combs and shaving products in the elegant quarter of London’s St James. The Floris shop they opened at 89 Jermyn Street remains the heart of the business and is still run by their descendants today. The art of creating distinguished fragrances is in the Floris blood.

Nearly 300 years ago, Juan Famenias Floris created his first fragrance and recorded the formula in a large leather bound book. He continued to craft individual blends for his distinguished customers and with each new fragrance, the original formula was handwritten in this very book. For three centuries these recordings, along with the many more that followed, have been meticulously cared for in the vaults at 89 Jermyn Street and have been handed down through each generation of family, providing inspiration for the unique Floris fragrances created today.

Now, Floris' in-house perfumery team produce unique and timeless creations, all of which are given approval by Edward Bodenham, the Floris 'nose' and 9th generation of the Floris family. Edward and his team are based at 89 Jermyn street in the perfumery behind the founding shop where we have created all our fragrances since 1730. In this same perfumery Edward learnt his craft as a boy from his grandfather, where at that time the fragrances were blended in the sub-basement affectionately known as ‘the mine’ beneath the store.

"There is an underlying dark note in this otherwise soliflore violet, which has me puzzled. At first I detect what seems like a bit of anise or licorice, but it never states its case, just hovers in the back ground. It certainly grounds the scent and makes it quite wearable for both men and women. Like their Jasmine, Floris does not make a “pretty” overly sweet violet. This has a most generous dollop of pure violet oil, giving it the gravitas of the Shimy
oils.

It is in no way green, as some violets can veer towards. It has good projection and wears subtly close to the skin. The dry down is just that,
dry and fragrant and a bit powdery. One of the better vintage violets, right up there with Trumper’s classic Ajaccio Violets, which I wore for many years before its relatively recent reformulation. Highly recommended." Basenotes Review. Jack Twist

Offered here is a lovely bottle of gorgeous violet concentrated bath essence For violet lovers, this is truly wonderful! Sadly now discontinued, this is a chance to enjoy this beautiful scent! The labels on front and back are a bit rough. One cannot really read the back label any more, but it says "Put a few drops in your bath'. It smells divine!! I believe the contents leaked slightly and spoiled the labels ..
