'Vallee Des Rois", Valley of the Kings, by Mira Takla, is a luscious amber, woody, vanilla perfume with white floral undertones. It is a fragrance mostly for women but it could be worn by men .. read Pharaohs .. and was launched in 1988. Mira Takla, a Cairo-‏born Egyptian Parliamentarian and Egyptologist, created this extraordinary fragrance after translating ‏heiroglyphic perfume formulas from ‏temple walls at Edfu, Dendera and Philae. Her wish to cast a light on the opulence and genius of ancient Egyptian dynasties resulted in this unique and beautiful fragrance. It was originally sold exclusively through Harrods in London and Galleries Lafayette in Paris. It is hard to find now.

This fragrance is absolutely exotic. It is completely unique and extraordinary. It starts citrusy green and fresh, but right after that, flowers follow in true splendour. One is intoxicated!

Top notes are Fruits, Green Notes and Citruses
Heart notes are Ylang-Ylang, Orange Blossom, Rose, Jasmine and Tuberose
Base notes are Olibanum, Styrax, Benzoin, Heliotrope, Patchouli, Tonka Bean, Vetiver, Labdanum, Sandalwood and Vanilla

"The first impression, oddly enough, are the base notes. Even though ambergris is not listed, the impression of it is center stage for my nose. It is softened by the sandalwood and vanilla, though the initial blast could flatten one. A very warm patchouli calms it all down, so that the florals, which have been waiting in the wings, during the bombastic overture, can now step on stage and overwhelm in their own way.

The sweet, bright, orange blossom, delicate heliotrope and ylang are carried on the shoulders of the bearers, the rose, jasmine and tuberose. The latter ensures that the palanquin will never tilt or falter. The floral bouquet is stunning to say the least.
