The perfume house of Parfums d'Orsay is a truly aristocratic perfume line from France. The philosophy of the house is based on quality, understatement, character, seduction, praise, creativity and originality. They are very proud of their long tradition and heritage.

Although the house never belonged to the Count d'Orsay himself, his perfumes and the romantic air of his name gave birth to the Compagnie Francaise des Parfums d'Orsay, founded in 1908 with the goal to preserve the Count's perfume heritage and develop an aristocratic luxury perfume house on its basis. Many of the perfumes developed in this great perfume house were designed for men.

The story goes that the young Count of Orsay fell madly in love with Marguerite de Blessington, but alas she was already married, so he composed a fragrance that would be in their image. For this love to remain secret, this perfume would have no name .. just a blue label . A true Ode to love, its imprint is forever contemporary.

Launched in 1910, the fragrance has fresh masculine or feminine notes, and an intense romantic flight that evolves into a sunny heart thanks to the Fleur d'Oranger blended with the timeless elegance of amber and vanilla.

This vintage would be a good spring and summer eau de cologne as it features orange blossom and citrus over a base of light moss and resins. Considering Etiquette Bleue hails from 1908, when "bleu" or "bleue" fragrances related to the so-called Blue Hour, that period between dusk and darkness where a blue shadow is supposedly cast were popular, I see Etiquette Bleue as an eau de cologne with a very soft base somewhat like Guerlain's l'Heure Bleue. This one is certainly worth a try if you like traditional eau de colognes and vintage fragrances. Basenotes Review .. Bokaba

Etiquette Bleue doesn’t exactly smell like an eau de cologne thanks to the amount of embellishment on the central orange blossom accord anchoring the composition, but the heredity is there nonetheless. The opening is bergamot, orange, lemon, petitgrain, and rosemary, pretty standard in the realm of eau de colognes like 4711 Echt Kölnisch Wasser by Muelhens (1792), but soon Etiquette Bleue grows sweeter and drifts closer to something like the later Guerlain L’Heure Bleue (1912). Orange blossom on a bed of rosewood and heliotrope is the core, and it is sweetened by musky peru balsam and oakmoss with a warm sandalwood base that gives Etiquette Bleue a slightly powdery feel. I think this is pretty “petit femme” in tone, but is unisex enough to be a relaxing scent for anyone. As an odd “eau de toilette double extrait” this wears more like an eau de parfum, and will last easily 12 hours on skin with close sillage but moderate projection for the first 4 hours, although seems better suited to spring or early fall than any other time of year.

Fans of antique Guerlains may see some value in Parfums D’Orsay Etiquette Bleue, as it shares common threads with them and early efforts by Coty as well; powdery oakmoss sandalwood and dusty florals perfectly balanced against sweet citrus and warm musks. This was made before the fougère and chypre were really set-in-stone genres, so it’s a bit hard to classify, but Etiquette Bleue is nothing if not traditional. The Scented Devil

Top notes are Amalfi Lemon, Rosemary, Bergamot, and Neroli
Heart notes are Marshmallow, Heliotrope, Orange Blossom, Opoponax, Myrrh and Brazilian Rosewood

Offered here is a lovely large bottle of this luscious and refreshing Eau de Cologne. I have rarely seen one of these is such good condition with its labels in tact. Suitable for both men and women. Still sealed. The white shrink seal has some damage in terms of a crack and a chip, but it will not affect the closure underneath. A wonderful find .. Just fabulous ..
