Lancôme was founded in 1935 by Armand Petitjean in France, originally as a fragrance house. The name "Lancôme" was inspired by the ruins of a castle, Le Château de Lancosme, while the roses in the area inspired the company’s symbol of the single golden rose. Lancôme launched its first five fragrances in 1935 at the World's Fair in Brussels. These were Tendre Nuit, Bocages, Conquete, Kypre and Tropiques.

Lancôme‘s history is rooted in the smart Faubourg Saint-Honoré, in Paris’s choicest arrondissement. In 1935, Armand Petitjean opened a boutique, selling a tiny selection of fragrances and beauty products, manufactured just outside Paris.

'Poignantly elegant and refined, Lancôme Climat is a beautiful arrangement in which green notes are set against the lustrous glow of aldehydes and then blended into the waterfall of flowers. It touches with its ability to remain like a piece of gossamer fabric floating in the wind, while possessing a decadently sensual richness afforded by the animalic notes on which Climat rests its diaphanous form.

Created by Gerard Goupy in 1967, Climat fits into the perfume landscape of the 1960s with its enchantment with clarity touched by verdancy and chilly elegance, much like Guerlain Chant d’Arômes (1962), Yves Saint Laurent Y (1964), and Guerlain Chamade (1969), however the aldehydic floral mistiness of Climat takes its inspiration from the legendary Worth Je Reviens (1932), a composition that smells of flowers and bare skin. While Je Reviens has a smoky touch hovering above its floral softness, Climat remains smooth and radiant, like a pale green jade polished to perfection.

Top notes are Lily-of-the-Valley, Narcissus, Violet, Bergamot, Jasmine, Rose and Peach;
Heart notes are Aldehydes, Rosemary and Tuberose
Base notes are Civet, Musk, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Bamboo, Amber and Tonka Bean

Lancome launched this green, floral fragrance in 1967. Climat is an irresistible fragrance, a spring garden of warm climates. The base notes are delicate: spring lily-of-the-valley and narcissus, deep and warm heliotrope, vetiver and sweet tuberose.

This fragrance is a part of the collection of perfumes "La Collection Fragrances" launched to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the perfume tradition of the house of Lancome. The perfumes of this collection were released in elegant, transparent bottles designed in the early 1960's by one of founders of the house of Lancome, George Delhomme.

Offered here is an opportunity to try a sample of the reissued Climat. It is close to the original 1967 fragrance, and is still very beautiful ..
