Madeleine de Rauch was born Madeleine Marie Antoinette Bourgeois on August 25, 1896 in Ville d'Avray, a current department of Hauts-de-Seine .. and she died on 25 November 1985 in the 8th arrondissement of Paris 1. She was known as a very creative French seamstress. In 1932, she founded in Paris the fashion house that bears her name. Known for the fluidity of her clothing and the elegance of her sportswear, she reached her peak in the golden age of Parisian couture, not long after World War II.

Like other fashion designers, Madeleine de Rauch also became interested in the world of perfume. The first perfume she created was named Pitch, which she released in 1947. Thereafter she created Miss Rauch, a woody floral created in 1960, which was reformulated in 1968, and then disappeared. Next she created Belle de Rauch in 1966, which also was discontinued. There were several other beautiful creations that latterly were discontinued.

Madeleine used the services of a famous distributor known as Pearmoss Ltd, 53 Great Marlborough Street in London, which also distributed at that time many other famous perfumes and cosmetics, including those of Piguet, D'Orsay, Coryse Salome and the many popular lipsticks and nail polishes that were sold under the name of Brigitte Bardot.

After the closure of the fashion house, the limited company 'Parfums Madeleine de Rauch' was sold and passed through a few different hands. Apparently, Madeleine de Rauch was a great contemporary of Chanel, who was by now a well known couturier in Paris. She was also greatly helped by the emerging talent, the young Yves Saint Laurent.

Miss de Rauch perfume is a beautiful solf mimosa scent, a sweet and succulent rendition of that divine flower. Fittingly, the perfume reflects the pink of the mimosa blossoms. Apparently she often talked about mimosa trees and how hard they were to maintain. The mimosa was one of her favorite trees and its flowers, one of her favorite scents.

Top notes are Aldehydes, Orange Blossom, Citruses, Melon, Peach, and Lotus
Heart notes are Orris Root, Mimosa, Rose de Mail, Lily of the Valley, Honeysuckle, Ylang Ylang, Magnolia, Reseda, Jasmine, and Black Currant
Base notes are Oak Moss, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Amber, Benzoin, Bourbon Vetiver, Tonka Bean, and Cedar

This is a rare and beautiful perfume that is now very hard to find, especially a sealed bottle with its original box. Highly collectible and very lovely!
