Saint Cyr, Toujours ou Jamais, 'Forever or Never', 30 ml. or 1 oz. Flacon, Parfum Extrait, 1925, Paris, France ..

Parfums Saint-Cyr was established by Claude Saint-Cyr also known as Simone Martin, in Paris, France in 1917. He was a milliner by trade, and launched fragrances in 1925, associated with La France Toilet Goods. Societe La France Toilet Goods company, Inc. also known as La France Laboratories, was a perfumery, which launched a range of fragrances and matching face powders in the 1920s.

The company was represented in the United States by Maurice Lannon, doing business under the name of Perfumes Saint-Cyr , New York, NY and Paris, France, and the name was filed for on August 10, 1946. The name Saint-Cyr refers to the popular child-saint Saint Quiricus or Cyriacus, whose following was strong in France because relics were brought back from Antioch by the 4th-century Bishop Saint Amator of Auxerre.

Little remains of the Saint Cyr perfumes, as they were discontinued soon after the Second World War. I have only seen a few pieces for sale, and they are increasingly rare. At one time they enjoyed fame and popularity, but like so many of the smaller perfume houses in France, many soon disappeared into anonymity as a result of the war.

This bottle is a really lovely find, recently from Paris. Toujours ou Jamais, 'Forever or Never', 'Always or Never' or "Now or Never' was launched in 1925, and is classified as a feminine floral.

Top notes are Bergamot, Tangerine, Neroli, and Lemon
Heart notes are Rose, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Lily of the Valley, and Tuberose
Base notes are Sandalwood, Oak Moss, Vanilla, and Vetiver

Offered here is a rare example of this now long lost perfume in its original black presentation box. The string mayhave been retied .. I can't quite see properly, but the flacon is quite full and very little used, if at all Highly collectible.
