Myrurgia Perfumery was established by Esteban Monegal Prat, a Catalan sculptor who lived from 1888 to 1970, and was resident at 239 Calle de Cansejo, Ciento, Spain in the early 1900’s.

The actual business named Myrurgia was established in Barcelona, Spain in 1916, and was a family business founded by members of the Monegal family. The company's name Myrurgia was created from the Greek words for "essence" and "industry". With the combined efforts of wealthy chemical industrialist Raymon Monegal, his money, marketing skills, and the artistic talents of his son, the sculptor, Esteve Monegal Prat, their partnership helped to build the company into the successful name that we know today. Esteve earned university degrees in Paris and Barcelona. His perfumery training took place in Grasse, Paris and with Firmenich in Geneva which company also helped to develop the exquisite fragrances, soaps and other products of the Myryrgia which gained a major presence in the area surrounding Barcelona, and soon, the world would get a taste of what was so popular in the Catalonian region.

The company produced perfumes, cosmetic and toiletries. They won a Gold Medal in 1925 Paris Exhibition. Myrurgia was distributed in the USA by Vivaudou up until 1931 when they sold the line. The company was later bought by Dr. Payot in c1980's and by Antonio Puig Parfumes in 2001.

Orgia is one of the house's classic but perhaps lesser known scents. Classified as a floral aldehyde fragrance, Orgia was first released in 1922 and then discontinued. Then it was reintroduced in the 1970's. Orgia sold well, and with an excellent advertising message, there is a theme running through the images of women being seduced with and by the flowers themselves. 'The scent is pure vintage .. all purring and golden glowy with a lemony rose or geranium and lily of the valley grounding it. It has a smooth and relaxed soapy aldehyde and musk note that gives it a surprisingly sensual feeling. Orgia improves skin the way butter improves bread, taking the functional and making it into something orgiastic. This is one for grownups only but I believe many men could pull this one off as well as any women.'

Orgia is a women's fragrance with the scent of "a lot of flowers, lots of lights, and lots of love." The composition is a floral aldehyde, intense and dark. The original perfume bottle has been designed by Verrières Viard.

Top notes are aldehydes, Bergamot, Citruses, Orange Blossom, and Spices
Middle notes are Lily of the Valley, Jasmine, Carnation, and Bulgarian Rose
Base notes are Cedar, Vanilla, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Ambergris, Oak Moss, Patchouli, and Tonka Bean.

Offered here is a rare bottle of the pure parfum extrait, still sealed and with its baudrouche. The cologne is a little easier to find, but the perfume itself is more illusive. Highly collectible, and very lovely.
