Parfums Pierre Dune was established in 1939 at 49 rue de Prony, Paris by Edmond Rosens. He also traded under the name Rene Pierre. While Pierre Dune perfumes were very short lived, and production was interrupted by the war in Europe, some Pierre Dune perfumes were still being sold around 1965, although they were becoming more and more rare.
The French have a long tradition and skills in the art of making perfumes. The great names in fashion have assisted in exporting some of the most important names in perfume thoughout the world, and yet there were many smaller and more obscure perfume companies that were producing right along with the big fashion names.
The birth place for French perfumes is in the southern Provence region and is called "Occitane". The abundance of herbs, lavander and many other wild flowers on the rocky landscape, warm climate, plus hundreds of years of experience in distilling mixtures and creating scents have made France one of the world's leading perfume manufacturers. It was from this area and in this environment the Edmond Rosens found the ingredients for his Pierre Dune perfumes.
L'Amphore Bleue is perhaps one of the earliest and therefore now most remote and rare of the perfumes created under this label. It is a beautiful feminine floral and is presented in the most charming and delicate crystal flacon. I am left with a scent of roses, delicate and sweet.
Top notes are Neroli, Bergamot, Lemon, and Orange Blossom
Heart notes are Rose, Jasmine, Lily of the Valley, and Lilac
Base notes are Sandalwood, Oak Moss, and Cedar
Offered here is a beautiful flacon of this rare and obsolete perfume in its original presentation box. It is quite collectible, and I have found other Pierre Dune perfumes on line and for sale, but there is not much left that was written about them. The crystal bottle is delicate and the glass thin, with a lovely little bouchon for closure.
