Parfumerie Agnel was established in 1858 by Alexandre Cesar Napoleon Agnel at 16 avenue l’Opera, Paris, France. He was a manufacturer of fine fragrances, soaps, toilet waters and toilet vinegars, perfumed extracts, ointments, oils, and cosmetics, and was originally established in Becon in 1853. The perfumery participated in the 1878, 1889, 1900 and 1925 exhibitions and won the gold medal in both 1900 and 1925. Some bottles were made by Baccarat and others were made by Pochet et du Courval.

Mr. Agnel, who settled in 1858 at 66 rue Neuve des Petits Champs, opened successively in the center of Paris five new stores in which only goods of its manufacture are sold. Several raw materials were distilled in steam plant Becon, the Bruyeres essential oils of iris, and jasmine, particularly. Mr. Agnel introduced new perfumes named Violet, Imperial Russian, and Brisadia and extracts named Karistèle and Myrianthis. He won awards for previous exhibitions, including a gold medal in Paris in 1878, and a Silver Medal in Paris in 1889." Since 1878, Parfumerie Agnel has obtained at all exhibitions many universal rewards.

G. Agnel, the son of Alexandre C.N. Agnel, established own company around 1912, Golden Perfume Co in New York. The Agnel perfumery finally closed in 1958 after 100 years of being in business.

Karistele was first launched in 1901, and again later in the 1920's. The bottle shown here is one made by Pochet et du Courval between 1925 and 1940. Karistele is a beautiful feminine floral.

Top notes are Lemon, Bergamot, Neroli, and Orange Blossom
Heart notes are Jasmine, Rose, Ylang Ylang, Lily of the Valley, and Honeysuckle
Base notes are Sandalwood, Vetiver, and Ambergris

Offered here is an absolute pristine flacon of the beautiful Karistele in its original presentation box. These perfumes have been kept so well, in the cool and the dark. Excellent condition.
