Maudy Perfumes, of 7 Rue Lilas, Colombes .. Seine .. France, was established in 1928 by Adrienne Foy, and was affiliated to 'de Musset' where both produced luxury presentations. De Musset was established in New York in 1928 by Marcel Foy who launched a range of fragrances in 1920 and 1930's and remained in business for short duration. These perfumeries were also ssociated with Legrain. Both Maudy and de Musset used bottles from Depinoix and Baccarat.

These perfume houses produced luxury perfumes housed in delightful and creative flacons. Very little is left of their work today, and they are very rare to find.

Maudy's Chypre was clearly produced after the big rage concerning chypre perfumes that was started by Coty! Every perfumer who was worth his salt had to produce a chypre. This one was produced in France.

While there are scant notes about Maudy, let alone perfume notes, I am going to suggest something like this ..

This beautiful Chypre, launched in the 1930's, will be warm and dry and built around a woody, mossy accord of bergamot, oak moss, patchouli and labdanum or cistus. There will be strong elements of flowers, fruits or woodiness, with a sweet powdery dry down that leaves one with a warm feminine floral note.

Top notes are Bergamot, Neroli, Orange Blossom, and Ylang Ylang
Middle notes are Rose, Jasmine, Oak Moss, Labdanum, Anise, and Coriander
Base notes are Bay Laurel, Pine, Sandalwood and Almond

Offered here is a stunning and huge botttle of this gorgeous long lost perfume. The bottle is quite sumptuous, heavy, and beautifully shaped. It still has its suede baudruche and ribbon tie, exactly as it was so long ago. A real treasure ..
