Lesourd Pivert, Cristal, 'Crystal', 50 ml. or 1.69 oz. Flacon, Parfum Extrait, 1923, Paris, France ..

Lesourd Pivert was a perfumerie in Paris which was established in 1876 and sold perfumes, toiletries and cosmetics at their shop at 24 rue Albouy, Paris. Like so many perfume houses from that time, much information has been lost, and there was no Internet to record them.

This fairly obscure but beautiful house produced a long list of perfumes during their time. The company went into decline for a number of decades, and then was revived in 1940 and continued to present perfumes until around 1960. Cristal was relaunched in 1953, but this presentation that I am offering here is a much older version.

Cristal can be described as an aldehydic floral, and is absolutely stunning, soft and feminine. Presented in an exquisite flacon with gorgeous carved bouchon, the whole look and feel of the perfume is feminine, classical, and one from those glorious bygone days of the Belle Epoque.

"I am reminded at once of the lush Lanvin scents, especially My Sin and Arpege, which
Cristal resembles very closely. My Sin debuted in 1924, one year after Cristal, and Arpege in 1927. One wonders if the mysterious Madame Zed, supposedly a Russian parfumer who created the early Lanvin scents, also sold her wares elsewhere in the perfume world. Cristal was popular enough to be revived in 1953, thirty years after its debut.

"Cristal has great unctuousity and great depth. It begs to be worn with furs, but unlike the
Lanvins and the Weils, it sits lightly on the wearer, resembling in this aspect the Chanels of the 1920s.
It is to be found on the internet quite easily in a variety of glass bottles, cut like crystal

Top notes are Neroli, Bergamot, Orange Blossom, Rose, and Jasmine,
Middle notes are Ylang Ylang, Heliotrope, Lily of the Valley, Lilac, and Honeysuckle
Base notes are Sandalwood, Amber, Vanilla, and Honey

Offered here is a most stunning flacon of this deliciously feminine scent. Incredibly rare, very hard to find, and I have only seen one other one in my days of collecting. Highly collectible for perfume lovers. Both flacon and box have survived in beautiful pristine condition all these years. Some evaporation has occured. Flacon is still sealed. This fragrance is utterly beautiful!
